ENGLISH CLUB IAAS

On Thursday, 31/05/12, IAAS (International Association of students in Agricultural and related Sciences) LC UNS invited me as speaker in English club. In this event, I have to lead discussion about “Food Preservation”. I was sure, if I told them a lot about this topic in English, it would be very boring. I think, It would be nice to have a little game.

The rules of the game are:

  • Everyone should answer the question, discuss, and give their opinion in English (…. of course, this is English club, not Javanese Club!)
  • Do not worry with your grammar (…because, many Americans speak English with incorrect grammar. I will show you then…)
  • Speaking is art (… sometimes, you do not need correct grammar, moreover you do not need similar language to make your audience understand what you mean. Delivering your message is the most important…)
  • Do not speak fast to make you look fluently (… the most important is the correct pronunciation…)

To make you confident to speak English, I would like show you the grammar mistake made by famous people in America. Please, look at that and find the incorrect grammar ! 🙂

—  Bryan Adams, “Run to You” – “But that’d change if she ever found out about you and I.”
—  Queen, “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy” –  “ I’d like for you and I to go romancing .”
—  Gwen Stefani, “Bubble Pop Electric” – “ I’m restless, can’t you see I try my bestest.”
—  The Police, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” –  “ Everything she do just turns me on .”
—  Backstreet Boys, “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” – “ As time goes by, you will get to know me a little more better .”
—  Gwen Stefani, “Rich Girl” – “ If I was a rich girl… ”
—  Justin Timberlake, “What Goes Around” –   “ When you cheated girl, my heart bleeded girl…

Hohohoho, they make mistake on the grammar, however they still famous and cool, right???  So, how confident you are now???  Let us start the discussion about Food Preservative !
